How to Maintain your Carpets
Cleaning and maintaining your carpet correctly will make it last for an extended period of time. Also, proper cleaning of your carpet will make it look good at all times. Here are some tips to help you keep your rug clean:
• Blot Stains
Scrubbing stains on the carpet will make them spread on the mat and even get deeper into the fibers. A good way to get rid of these stains is by using a sponge and cleaning solution. You should only put a small amount of pressure on the stain in order to soak it up. This way, the stain will not go deeper into the carpet fibers. Blotting can also be done with a white piece of cloth or ink-free paper towels. Make sure you blot until that section of the carpet is completely dry.
• Be Quick
Your carpet will end up with the worst stains in the house, including pet accidents. If you don’t want any kind of dirt to be permanent on your mat, you should clean it up as soon as you notice the mess.
• Set the Vacuum at the Right Height
The height of the vacuum is very important. If you set it too low, you will end up damaging the carpet and some parts of the machine. To find the perfect height, you can start at its highest point and go lower until it starts to tug itself forward.
• Use Dishwashing Detergent to Clean Grease Stains
Grease stains can be stubborn. A good way to get rid of such stains is by using dishwashing detergent. Add a few drops of the detergent to some water and then pour the solution into a spray bottle. You will then be able to spray the solution to the stain and then blot it.
